FAQ
Why do I have to pay the Farmer and the Processor?
Since processing costs can vary with custom cuts, farmers offer flexible options to enhance the purchasing experience. Customers may either pay the processor directly or enjoy the convenience of a combined price that covers both the animal and processing. To make your choice easier and more transparent, we clearly detail whether processing is included in the total price on the Farm Meat product pages. This way, you can confidently compare options and select the best fit for your needs.
How is this more sustainable?
Yes. Not only are you taking the big box stores and that supply chain out of the loop, you’re building a local economy where oftentimes the animal to the processor to your table is less than 100 miles total.
Where do I pickup my meat?
Each farm will have a different setup; however, generally, you pick up your meat directly from the processor. This is specified on the Product page and Order Confirmation.

What taxes are due?
Farm Meat LLC isn’t collecting any taxes. This would be a requirement of the Farm to include any taxes to be collected added to their price.
When will I get my meat after I place the Order?
Based on the type of meat purchased and the backup at the processor, it can be a few days or a couple of weeks. For Beef, it is usually aged a minimum of 10 days but can be longer based on the processor. Other meats like pork, lamb, and goat are typically aged like beef, so turnaround at the processor is shorter. Always check with the processor listed for timelines.
When do the Farmers get paid?
Farm Meat will provide an ACH direct deposit to your account twice a month on the 15th and 31st. Farm account must be set up with Stripe on your profile page.

Why didn’t I get the whole hanging weight back from the butcher?
You might notice that the whole hanging weight isn’t fully returned from the butcher, and here’s why: the hanging weight includes the entire animal with all bones and fat before it’s processed into your final cuts. During processing, some of this weight is trimmed away as part of preparing the meat for your specific preferences, which can affect the final yield. This ensures you receive the highest quality cuts tailored to your needs while accounting for the natural losses that occur during the butchering process.
